Our mortgage re-finance was closed in October of 2004. Our homeowner's insurance was up for renewal on June 1st, 2005. This gave American Home Mortgage Servicing 8 months to get this squared away.

They received a notice from our insurance company in mid-April of 2005 with payment details (amount owed, payment coupon, payment address, etc.). In mid-June I received a notice from our insurance company stating our policy had not been paid and it needed to be rectified immediately.

I called American Home Mortgage Servicing and was told the payment would be going out the next Monday (4 days after this phone call). I couldn't get them to simply make the payment immediately. The person I talked to was of little help.

Two weeks later I received another notice from my insurance company that the policy was now cancelled and that I was no longer insured.

I contacted American Home Mortgage Servicing again to find out what happened. In a nutshell it seems they either didn't send the payment (most likely) or they sent it to the wrong address (implied but not 100% confirmed). I basically was left with 2 options; 1) Wait another couple of days to see if the payment arrived, or 2) Pay the entire insurance premium out of my own pocket, wait for their check to arrive to my insurnace company and be returned because the premium was already paid, wait for American Home Mortgae Servicing to receive the check back, wait for them to issue me a refund and finally wait for it to arrive in the mail.

I opted for the first option thinking that the check should get there any day. We were without insurance for the next week while we waited for that check to arrive.

Shortly thereafter I received a notice that they underpaid and again my policy was in jeapordy of being cancelled. I still haven't sorted this aspect out...

Who did you get your loan through - an Americanhome Loan officer or another broker who sent it to AHM? Our servicing side has several emergency lines, I may be able to get you on one of them.
