American Home Shield AC Warranty Ripoff Only gives 1 AC company and they are worthless Memphis Tennessee
On July 11th, I decided to have our AC checked out as some rooms were colder than others, and we were thinking there might be air leaks in the ducts.
We called AHS and they said they only had one AC company that could service Mesquite and for us to call them to come out but that there was a $50 service fee.
We figured that was ok, as we were pretty sure that it was a duct somewhere in the attic leaking cool air instead of sending it to the room.
I was at work when the technican came. He opened the door to the closet ac and poked his head in the attic and then came back and told us it would be $450 to clean the AC as that was what he said the problem was. I told him that he could not have seen the ducts by just poking his head in the attic as the access hole is not even where you can see the ducts. He told my wife it was too hot to look but he was sure it was because the ac was not clean and probably full of dog hair.
I told him on the phone to check for air leaks because some rooms were not getting as cold as other rooms. He spends 10 minutes putting tape on a spot on the air handler and then leaves.
When I come home I see that he did not do anything. Not even move the sqirl cage, look at the air handler, or anything but instead just charged us $50 and a maditory statement that the ac must be cleaned and it would cost $450 to do that.
I called AHS and instead of helping us out, they sided with the AC technican and said that unless we paid to have it cleaned that any breakdowns or repairs were our own responsiblity.
I have picures and proof that he never looked at our ac nor did anything but cause it to start leaking on the floor which they will not repair either.
AHS is a racket and they will not help you when you have AC problems, they higher contractors who come out to scam and demand a fee for something the did not do and do not need.
See pictures for full details.
I now have a leaking AC that was not leaking before they came out. It was only causing hotspots in certain rooms. Now I have to higher and independant contractor to come out and fix what the first tech broke and to fix what I asked to be fixed in the first place. Once I get the bill from the ind. contractor I will be sending it to both AHS and the sorry technican that came out and demand they pay the bill. If not I will glady take them to small claims court.

Today, I am having my Coil and furnance replaced for $2500 out of my own pocket. Never heard back from AHS or the Airconditioner Company after I filed a complaint with at the BBB.
I guess this is just another lesson on the expensive road of life. Warranties are sold for profit not for protection.

Well to begin I am a former employee of American Home Shield. I was taken back by the mission statement beginning "To Honor God in all we do" and just knew I was going to be working at an ethical and respected company. NOT THE CASE AT ALL!
All consumers beware of this company. Save Your Money and hire your own company to perform repairs. I have personally talked to contractors that have worked for AHS and was told that AHS actually had a rep come out and "teach" the companies how to DENY an item! This rings true in more ways than I can tell you.
Basically, all of us reps are told to listen to the customer and be calm, try to find resolution... um, there is no resolution... you pay a service fee on top of the contract fee for a tech to come out to your home for 10-15 minutes and tell you that you will be hearing from AHS... rest assured this means that the tech is pulling out of your driveway and on his cell phone calling AHS to have your item DENIED!
HA, they got your service fee AND YOUR YEARLY CONTRACT cost and if youhave anyone else do repairs besides AHS techs then this will VOID your warranty (and it is not worth the paper it is written on by the way) BEWARE!!!!
