I made a complaint to my Home Warranty Company about the gas furnace not heating.

At this point all that came out of the vents was cold air. American home shield sent out a repairman on Nov 20th, 2008.

The repairman indicated that there was a problem with the furnace's control board and subsequently replaced it. He also mentioned that there was a problem with the high limit and he did not have the part available.

Two days later he returned with the part. After he installed it, the furnace worked for a week, after-which the same problem came back up (only cold air came out of the vents.)

I then placed another call to AHS(American home shield) and for weeks they gave me the run around. Finally they sent another tech. to look into the problem.

The new tech. said the problem was with the igniter, and he would return with a new one. Two days later he returned, replaced the igniter and left.

The furnace never worked since, it does not even turn on, nor does the blower work (no air from the vents).

I've called and complained and finally AHS claims that the furnace they broke needs to be replaced, but will not replace it until i pay an additional $400.00.

I am being asked to pay for them to replace my furnace which they broke.

All i want is my furnace replaced.

I have also requested to cancel my contract (and refund my $500.00) for next year, but AHS is refusing to do so.

The company does know that they rip people off, and refuse to put any contact info on their website.

I did some digging, AHS is owned by services master, i've called their executives and they have all promised to return my calls, but as of yet i have not recieved one call.
For any one else having problems with this fradulant company.

Can you be sure it is their fault?

I have had some experience with home warranties and I agree that they usually aren't worth the paper they're written on, but come on. You obviously have an old unit that is failing in multiple ways. It sounds to me like the service person tried to help you out by making a repair rather than giving you the typical home warranty line of "Needs to be replaced, we don't cover it." Bite the bullet and take responsibility for your failing piece of equipment.
