On June 23, 2006 we had an air conditioning failure and asked AHS to provide service. They sent out a contractor who promptly said that a fence(that was 12 years old) was the cause of the failure and AHS would not cover the repair.

We paid to have an independent contractor come out and inspect the installation and he verified that the downstairs 5 ton unit had failed because of the coil in the attic not the fence and that there was no problem with the fence.

AHS was asked to come back after reading the independent contractors report and their new contractor agreed that the fence was not a problem. They said they would do the repairs but over the next 2 weeks we had 3 visits by different contractors verifying the problem and taking pictures and finally at the beginning of August they agreed to come and fix the problem.
When they arrived they tried to fix the 3 ton upstairs unit but we argued that it was the downstairs 5 ton unit that the independent contractor had worked on. They said they didn't have the parts and would return.
They came back today August 28 (we have not had fully functioning air conditioning since June 23rd) and said the failure was our fault as we had run the airconditioner without freon and so we were charged $300 for the repairs and $500 to upgrade the air conditioning ducts to come to current standards.

I feel that AHS and their contractors have ripped us off in every way possible and left us without air conditioning since June 23rd and we still do not have the downstairs 5 ton unit repaired because they only fixed the upstairs 3 ton unit today.
If there is anything anyone can do to help - please do!
