I just renewed my warranty with AHS after having problems with them for the first year. The problem we have had is when we bought our home on 12/03/02 the heater went out on 12/31/02. The warranty company had someone come out to fix it and they finally repaired it.

But then in April when it come time to turn on the AC, it did not work. I called the warrenty company and they showed up to said the united needed cleaned. We had someone do this and the unit still did not work. We called them back out and finally July of 2003 they got the AC unit to work. Well it come time to re-new the warranty and we was not sure what to do but we didn't know if the heater/AC would work or not.

We renewed the warranty and finally we turned on the heater and now we have no heat again. I told them I would not pay to have it fixed again, and all American Shield can say is it was repaired in July which is more then 45 days for a recall. I have told them that you can't turn the heat on in July to test it and all they say is its more then 45 days.

As of January 21, 2004 we still don't have a working heater or AC unit. And they say its been more then 45 days. I will not pay the 45.00 co-pay to them again.

the whole home warranty concept is built on homeowner thinking everything will be replaced for that small co-pay. there is no free lunch. homeowners dont realize that half the time the company coming to repair the problem is a sister company.with hvac ars is the sister co. the employee is working on flat rate/commission. homeowner never has a chance!
