Complaint Review: American Homes for Rent

American Homes for Rent Non Responsive. Has not sent security deposit back. Will not pay for utility bill due to broken water line in yard. Nationwide (Atlanta, GA) Nationwide

You can only pay rent online, not by phone, and for someone that travels and does not always have access to the internet, it can be hard to pay online.  I was one day late and attempted to send in certified check to their mailing address.  I was not notified that their mailing adress had changed and the payment was overnighted, but took a week for them to receive it because it had to go through forwarding, and because of this, I was sent through the eviction process and paid an extra $400 for the legal processing. 

A water line in the yard had been repaired right before my family moved in, and broke again while we were living there pouring water and leaving us with a bill of over $200 when our usual water bill was only $30-$40.  I have tried numerous times to recomp the money, but no one will return my calls or emails. 

The security deposit was supposed to be refunded within 30 days of moving out.  It has been almost 90 days and still have not been refunded. 

Attempted numerous times to try and contact the "Property Manager" with no responses.
