AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO. INC. Power Equipment Customer Relations Honda Warranty Voided Alpharetta, Georgia
Before transporting a small Honda gas engine (GCV160) in my minivan, I drained a gallon of gas and oil to prevent spillage, leaks and fire hazard inside passenger compartment. I needed to turn engine in for warranty work but had a 5 plus hour drive to dealer. When I delivered engine to authorized dealer, Honda Inc. refused warranty work, based on the reason that they could not do gas/oil analysis to support warranty claim. Therefore warranty was voided. Even with original purchase receipt, original box, books and unit less than 6 months old of 2 year warranty, Honda voided all, because I did something to insure the safety of myself and passengers.
Question, was my choice to drain gas/oil from engine wrong or right for transportation safty?
Can warranty be voided by Honda because of this issues.
I have asked for a writen rejection from Honda district rep. And will post it here when I get letter.
Thanks Dave

I would like to update my Rip Off report. After requesting written warranty disapproval from Honda district rep, he then revisited my claim. He paid shop to tear down engine to find accrual cause of engine failure. Shop reported no signs of miss use or heat related failure. Failure was due to intake valve shaft failure causing total engine seizure.
Honda has now rescinded its voided warranty stance, and is replacing engine with a new unit. My cost out of pocket will be $75.00 to pay for reassembly of equipment by authorized dealer and a few hours of bickering.
I own two Honda Odysseys, 2 Honda HR-215 mowers and have owned a few other Honda products in the past. I am very glad Honda has now honored its warranty. And I will return to being a customer that only has a good word to say about Honda and its fanatic product line.
Thank you Honda
