Like other complainants, I saw ad in local newspaper to be "Secret Shopper" for pay. Called, and went through the phone explanation. I WAS told about the other companies, but not exactly what they would be doing for me. In any event, the real problem comes from the fact that the sales pitch specifically stated that I "would receive my packet within 5-7 business days". Any reasonable person would believe, as the pitch implies, that all material is coming in one packet. In fact, each company sends its material separately, so that it comes whenever!

As a result, it is easy to overlook material, to disregard material, etc. I was lucky not to have thrown pieces away thinking they were junk! My last piece of mail arrived almost three weeks after the initial call, and that was from the actual "Secret Shopping" company itself. This practice stinks of deception, regardless of what I may have agreed to in my initial phone conversation. Any charges I received as a result, as far as I'm concerned, are a clear violation of some Consumer Protection law someplace, either state or federal.
