Manager Anthony. This location is a Rip OFF!

We purchased a Vera Wang Memory Foam mattress in August 2007 at American Mattress 1953 North Clybourn in Chicago IL 60614. To our shock and surprise, Memory Foam mattresses is old news! We had a personal guarantee from Anthony the sleazy Italian Manager, who would eat the change from your pocket and sell you anything without a real warrantee. My wife and I have lived in downtown Chicago for the last 40 years, and never experienced anyone who simply will not stand behind their products like Anthony at American Mattress. Within the first month, the padding on the mattress is sagging from 2.25-2.00 inches of deep indentation over the entire length and width of the mattress.

I personally called Anthony and ask only for the mattress to be replaced. I had a valid warranty! Anthony said he would send his men over to pick up the mattress. Then what happened next is only in the movies. He sends three young men who are Spanish who could barley speak English. He pays these young men very little money. He tells them to refuse every mattress if you see any spot or tiny stain on the mattress because if they pick up a mattress with a stain of any kind on it, it comes out of the poor employees check.

Well little, did my wife know this was the case? We had just purchased the bed for our guest room and placed brand new red silk sheets from Bed Bath and Beyond on the bed. In a small place, the red silk sheets left a faint red mark on the mattress. The young men were extremely rude and said we cannot bring back a mattress back with a stain. What they were really saying is this, If I bring this mattress back Anthony will take this out of my check, and I wont be able to feed myself or my family for the next week.

We called Anthony back and told him the faint red stain came out right away with a little shout. Anthony was out of control and could not stop yelling on the phone. Bottom line he would not exchange the mattress within a 30-day period or give a refund. Please I implore you to simply do not purchase any mattresses from American Mattress at 1953 North Clybourn in Chicago. They refuse to give a refund and they refuse to replace or stand behind any mattress.

The Americas Mattress employee response is on par. As a competitor of theirs who also sells mattresses for a living I know that customers who refuse the mattress protectors are the ones who create issues for me later. Any and every mattress company voids a warranty if their mattress is stained-that's why pads and protectors are available on the market to protect the consumer. My suggestion for next time: BUY THE PROTECTION.

I am a competitor to Americas Mattress and I agree with them. I don't see where the company did anything wrong.

THIS SOUNDS LEGIT TO ME! THIS IS AN UNREASONABLE CUSTOMER.

I WORKED AT AMERICAN FOR A LONG TIME AND WE HANDLED WARRANTIES VERY WELL. FIRST OF ALL, AT THE TIME OF THE PURCHASE I'M SURE THE CUSTOMER WAS OFFERED A MATTRESS PROTECTOR FOR THEIR NEW BED. EVEN IF THEY WERE NOT OFFERED THE PROTECTOR THEY SHOULD HAVE COVERED THE MATTRESS FIRST WITH A MATTRESS PAD BEFORE THEY PUT THE SHEETS ON IT. THE WARRANTY CARD THAT COMES WITH THE PRODUCT EXPLAINS ALL THE DETAILS ABOUT THE WARRANTY, INCLUDING STAINS OF ANY KIND VOIDING THE WARRANTY. THE RETAILER CANNOT CONTROL WHAT A CUSTOMER DOES AT HOME WITH THE PRODUCT OR WHAT THE MANUFACTURER WILL OR WILL NOT ACCEPT IN TERMS OF THE WARRANTY. THE REST OF THE COMPLAINT IS JUST HEAR SAY. THE CUSTOMER MIGHT HAVE AN ISSUE WITH NON ENGLISH SPEAKING PEOPLE.

ON ANOTHER NOTE, THE VERA WANG PRODUCT IS A BUST AND THERE ARE LEGIT WARRANTY CLAIMS OUT THERE THAT I'M SURE ARE HANDLED PROPERLY.
