American Medical Response-Nevada Gouging helpless patients! Modesto, California
A Warning to all those that may need an ambulance:
Recently I had a seizure at my doctor's office and an ambulance was called to transport me to the hospital. Because of the seizure I had no say in whether or not to take this Extremely Expensive service. Patient beware, if you have the chance to say NO, please do!
The ambulance service transported me a total of 4.1 miles and the bill is $901.95. That comes out to be almost $220 per mile!!! They didn't provide me with medication, oxygen, or anything....just basically a ride to the hospital.
It is ridiculous the amount of money this company wants me to pay them. Heck, I could've rented a limo service and a temporary nurse assistant to go with me and still had loads of money left-over!!!
So again I say, "Patient Beware!". You have the right to say "NO". You have the right to ask for a quote for the cost of transport. And even to ask for a different ambulance service! Don't be afraid to be your own advocate!!
I hope this Rip-off Report helps you...be well!

My family and I are going through something similar with this company, except it's for a ride that my son took from the hospital he was born in to a NICU 15 minutes away. They never filed the claim with my insurance within the 6 month time limit, but did send me to "collections" (Bay Area Credit Service) after 2 months because they did not have my apartment number in my address that I very clearly listed on on all of my paperwork. We just started receiving calls from the collections company last week almost 3 years after my son was born. After reading all of these reports I feel compelled to put this scam to rest once and for all. Would you be interested in joining me in a class action lawsuit against American Medical Response?
