My mother passed away on December 5, 2013. I signed the release forms for her medical records in the beginning of January and mailed them in as soon as I received them. They were received and reviewed by the second week in January, 2014. Since then I have had to followup with medical facilities and the insurance company to check with the status on the claim. The health facility was waiting for payment almost a month. Everytime I called American Memorial I got a different story.  I have spoken to Adriana DeHaven on 4 different occasions and she is never aware of what the status of my claim is. Their customer service is very lacking and they are given a general scropt to appease the customer but never giving accurate details. No one should buy a policy from the company.

Im not saying you dont have a right to complain, but dont you think the wisest course of action would have been to WAIT UNTIL THEY PAID THE CLAIM?? YOU have made an assumption. Actually several assumptions. You have assumed that they are being malicious and you have assumed that YOU are going to get paid within a specified time frame. Both of these assumptions are incorrect.

Use that brain of yours for just a moment. Think about how many claims they have to deal with in just ONE DAY. Then add up how many days its been since you filed. With a basic application of simple math you can see how they have a lot to deal with. You have made the assumption that YOUR case is the only one they are working on. That just isnt the case. A audit must be performed. They MUST make sure that ALL the terms and conditions of the insurance CONTRACT have been met. This all takes time, you will just have to be patient.

Keep your trap SHUT until they pay you. THEN blast them. Doing it ahead of time MAY cause even more delays. You THINK your anonymous online but your not. They can find out EXACTLY who you are by JUST the information you have given in your post. Do you REALLY want to lose out because you ran your mouth online?? These businesses have whole teams working on SEO managment. If one of those teams finds THIS report, they will bring it to thier bosses and they will find out who you are. You have given them more then enough info. Do the SMART thing and just wait.

And a insurance company not paying you in the timeframe YOU desire is NOT a ripoff. They must do thier part first. They cant just pay out on every claim that hits them. Each claim has to be investigated for accuracy. There isnt just some guy in a cubicle with a rubber stamp that says PAID on it stamping claims like you see in the cartoons.

If this company is purposely delaying the payment and you can prove it, contact your states insurance commissioner with the details.

If the policy was recently issued and was one with no physical required, they may be within their rights requesting medical information.  This is usually the case on policies issued less than two years before a claim.

What different stories are they giving you?
