My name is Izaak vankempen im a owner of a 1974 chevrolet caprice classic convertible that was stolen from the front of my home in the early a.m hours of may 22,2014. On may 21st 2014 in the evening i had a gathering for my five year old step son it was his birthday.family, friends and car club members came over for cake ,ice cream and fun in the jumper. I pulled out my car around 5p.m from my garage parked it in front of my home. I placed a jumper on my driveway had a open garage with tabels and chairs for the children to drink and eat pizza round 9:30 i took my car for a spin with my step son filled up my tank at the gastation on Jackson Rd the weekend was comming up with car shows for Memorial day Weekend and the rest of my week was looking busy. My family and friends stayed till midnight or so. My intentions were to put my car back in the garage like i normally do i fell asleep due to being tired. On the way to school my Eldest son walked out the door and said "were is your car"? I ran out the front door started lookin around no signs of a broken glass. I called hayward police to have a officer be sent to my house for a stolen car. A couple days later i get a call from a ajuster and his name was jeff a rude employee i must say. I was at work when he called he began asking me questions mind you im at work my thoughts were not all together. He recorded me on a call had me state my information. after the call he said due to line 17 in your policy your car must be put in the garage after use.wITH CLASSIC INSURANE this is a problem i cannot cover your claim it will be denied. This was said to me after the taped conversation. I was in dis belief my coverage is paid to date ..So not only is my calim denied i lost a collectors car valued at $30,000.00 also. The adjuster did not go over the policy, police report it was instant denial. Then he said i will talk to my mangers to enforce this denial and you will hear from me soon. Couple days later he calls back with a denial over the phone. He advised my denial letter will be in the mail i just recived it saturday June 7th 2014. I feel i was being taken advantage of.He had questions that set me up for a denial. Why should we the consumer pay for insurace if there takeing our money suppose to give us a service at the end its im turning my back on you. As for american modern look at all the complaints this company has and all the people they have hurt and put into a finacial bind. My car Was my baby eight years of blood sweat and tears and all i got in return is nothing. Thios company has to be investigated for there tactics and money scheme. The moral of the story is my classic car theft claim was denied becuase it was parked outside in the front of my home and it should have been in the garage. The one day i accidently leave it ouside it gets stolen. Please help me!

Sorry your car got stolen.  But you not getting paid was not the fault of the insurance company. It was your fault for falling asleep and leaving a 30,000.00 CLASSIC Car parked out front instead of putting it in the garage where it belongs.   If you call the state board of insurance to have them investigated you will be told sorry, Line 17 of your policy states that the car must be garaged at all times, WHEN NOT IN USE!!!!!

All companies that insure classic cars have this requirement.   Read this web page, it talks all about the requirements for Classic Car Insurance.

You have NO RIGHT to be angry at the insurance company, only at your self for leavng your "baby" parked in harms way.
