American Musical Supply, Inc., might do well to change their name to "Caveat Emptor Musical Supply"... or better still, "Rip-Off Musical Supply".

I recently purchased a defective guitar. Customer (no)Service gave me a hrd time and would not issue a Return Authorization #, despite their "guaranteed 45 day return policy, no questions asked" policy as seen on their website. I had to contact several supervisors, and finally the Operations manager to issue an RA #.

& business days later, I called to inquire about my refund, and was notified that there would be a 50% reduction in my refund, ostensibly due to a "scratched pickguard". That's odd... I don't even use a pick and never even played the piece of junk (made in Mexico, but not advertised as same). As a professional musician, I noticed that the instrument failed to intonate much beyond the third fret, and my luthier informed me that the neck was warped and not worth the trouble and extraordinary expense to fix.

I further inquired, "How do I know that someone in YOUR warehouse didn't take it out of the return packaging and play it on his lunch hour.

AMS finally agreed to charge 5% as a restocking fee.

I'm mad as hell!! I plan to report them to the NJ Dep't. of Consumer Protection" as well as the FTC.

I'm telling everyone... Don't do business with these creeps... you will get screwed!
