American Power and Gas is listed on the PApowerswitch.com site as an electricity provider in Pennsylvania. I selected them for an "introductory" rate of 7.6 cents/Kwh. One billing cycle later the rate jumped to 12.9 cents/Kwh. This is one of the highest rates listed of any electricity provider in PA. Deep in the agreement it states that the introductory rate is only good for one billing cycle. One would assume that the standard rate would be competitive with the Provider of Last Resort. They are nowhere near that. My native energy company is Penn Power and their rate is 9.2 cents/Kwh.
When I called customer service, I was told that I had signed up for 100% green electricity, which I did not. They also refutted that their rate is more than any other provider. I am dropping them ASAP. I would suggest that nobody sign up with this company. With this company, you will never know what they are going to charge until you receive the bill because their rate is not based on "normal" market conditions.
ConEdison is offering a fixed rate of 8.7 cents/Kwh fixed for 23 months with no cancellation fee and no other fees. They will be my electric provider for the next 23 months.
Goodbye PA Power and Gas! I will not be your victim for a second month.
