Complaint Review: American Public University

American Public University Financial Aid Internet

The financial aid services rendered by American Public University are dismal. They have made mistake after mistake in processing my Stafford loans and disbursing them on time. In each of the three semesters I have attended there has been a major problem. They use a rolling semester schedule. I took classes that ended in August and was due a refund from Stafford loans that were supposed to be disbursed last month. However, the financial aid department screwed up the process and now it is unknown when (or for that matter if) I will receive disbursement of the $3,300 that is owed me. Every time I call about the status of my loans that are supposed to be disbursed, I am told a completely different story. I would not recommend APU to any student that relies on financial aid. If I knew how bad the Financial Aid Department was at APU, I would have never started ending. They are totally inept.

My apologies, I am NOT the owner of the company (of course), and did not see the items to choose from before replying. In my anger and haste, I did not chose an option.

And I meant to speak to the person who replied who is an employee of APU for the first few sentences.

I believe this school is just as bad as those online schools one sees on TV advertised while you are out of work, or home sick.

I apologize if I confused anyone....

Are you kidding? They are going to resolve your issue just like that huh?  I've dealt with someone named "Sharon" for the past week and a half, as well as a half-dozen other people, and they have yet to give me a decent explanation as to me why my financial aid was yanked from under me. I received numerous excuses as to why I had to wait for the review committee, and so on regarding student violations.

What APU has is "Direct Lending" and Title IV.....which is completely different from the rest of the educational world, including some for profit schools such as Argosy and Phoenix. APU has a lot to learn about the way they treat students through the financial aid process.

Stay far away from this university....if you can't pay your own way. Go to another for-profit, or find a state or private university.

In the long run.....you get what you pay for.....

PS: The two professors I had were excellent, no complaints there; however, I've heard horror stories about other ones that aren't worth your time.
