Complaint Review: American Publications

I contacted an add in my local paper for at-home work to assemble info packets. Within 5 days I received a registration form. At the time I thought it might be something decent to take part in because of financial need.

I was somewhat hesitant to mail them $40 because that could be put to better use, but I thought maybe this is an honest business. I sent my registration form the same day it was received. I have not yet checked to see if my check has been cashed.

About two weeks later I received a pamphlet which was advertised as "FREE EXTRA BONUS", which lists other at home business opportunities (does anyone know if anything is legit out there). It is now close to a month and I have not yet received any packets to assemble.

I called the original phone number from the paper (888-222-0833) and left a message with my concerns also asking if this deal was legit. As of the time of this writing I am waiting for a response (which I most likely will not receive). The other phone number was given on the registration form.

I recently discovered a company called American Publications Co with a mailing address of 12685 Dorsett Road, Dept 303, Maryland Heights, MO 64054-3139 was advertising in Washington (the state) and there is a Cease and Desist case regarding if they are in violation of Business Opportunity Fraud. Don't know if the are one and the same because the name is pretty darn close.

I know anyone reading this is thinking was a jerk, but sometimes things happen; if you catch my drift.
