My daughter, Jennifer, got a speeding ticket in a city approximately four hours from home.  She then signed up with safemotorist.com (American Safety Council) for a defensive driving course. Safemotorist.com promised her that she would have the certificate in her hands 10 days after she completed the course.  After nine days she called safemotorist.com to tell them she still hadn't received it.  They promised to put another one in the mail.  She still did not get the certificate after 15 days, so she called Safemotorist.com again and asked for her money back.  Safemotorist.com refused. The customer service rep did offer to send it by two-day Fed Ex, but because of the four-hour distance, we still could not get it to the court in time.

Jennifer now has to pay for her ticket on top of the course fee charged.  She is a college student making minimum wage, so losing $25, paying the fine, and wasting what little time she has taking the course is a pretty big deal for her.

Still, the worst part was their customer service.  In addition to failing to send her paperwork, the wait time for a customer rep were as long as 15 minutes. Then when a rep got on the phone, they were very rude and sarcastic.

I definitely would not use them as they have very poor customer service. They don't mind alienating their customers as they already have their money.

Hello,

We are very sorry to see you had a poor experience with our product and support. Please know we have a great, dedicated department staffed to process student completions, report them to state agencies and also ship out the certificates to the addresses provided by our students.

Sometimes for whatever reason the certificate is not delivered properly via USPS. In these cases we can resend regular mail upon notification, and in your case we offered to resend priority after the certificate still had not arrived and you explained your situation. But I understand any timeliness at that point did not help your case.

Regarding the customer support, I am having our supervisor contact you and follow-up. We pride ourselves on having receptive and courteous professionals here, and I apologize if that was not the experience you had.

Regards,
American Safety Council
