I stopped in the garage fairly often and i was friends with a couple of people who worked there and they told me a lot about the place! plus sum of the stuff i seen with my own two eyes. i seen consumers being ripped off, there were times at that place there wasnt any buisness for weeks it was just slow so anybody that came in to have there car checked out for possible transmission problems 9 out of ten times were told there transmissions were bad even if they were not and im knowledgeable enough to know when the transmissions were taken apart to repair them to see the damage inside of them and most of the time like i said they werent bad! also the transmission builder told me too they werent bad everybody outside the office couldnt understand why they had to do these things? other then it was slow and no money was coming in also the price for these jobs sumtimes were astronomical!! $3,500 for a job that was normally even with a lot of damage inside the transmission only 1,800- 2,000 dollars older transmissions that should only cost $1,200 to build with a year warranty were costing $2,800 - 3,000 you could go to the car dealer and get a remanufactured transmission for less with 2-3 year warranty they also had a lot of people just abandon there cars there after they were repaired because they couldnt afford to pay for the job! i feel bad for my friends that work there but i cant keep quiet anymore people should not be ripped off like this!! there are so many people who need there transmssions repaired i dont understand why anybody would have to operate like that? if you have enough buisness why would you have to lie or overcharge? its unfair to the people with a auto repair buisness who try and make an honest living

Just a note to let smart consumers know that there are several independent transmission shops across the nation called American Transmission and they are not affiliated with each other directly.

The complaint filed against American Transmission in Hazleton, PA is a total fabrication. We have earned an extremely good reputation within our community, and have NO complaints with BBB or any other organization. I can tell by the illiterate writing style of this complaint that it was submitted by a FIRED former employee (mechanic) who, by the way, does not live in Stroudsburg, but lacks the moral fortitude to even admit who he is on this website. We received several threatening emails after his dismissal.

The pricing and practices stated are totally false. We can give customer references or local residents can watch for our commercials on TV. The people in the commercials are UNPAID CUSTOMERS who felt good enough about their experience at American Transmission to offer to do testimonials on TV. Anyone reading this is welcome to call or come by our facility to see for themselves how we do business. I am President of American Transmission. My name is Alan Pickering, and I can be reached at (570) 455-5900, Monday thru Friday between 8 AM and 6 PM.
