In December of 2003 I was called by a telemarketer with an offer for $200 in free gas coupons if I would accept offers from UTalk Unlimited, Wellnet and American Values. There were many more which I refused. The charge for each of these was $1.95 to be withdrawn from my checking account or charged to a credit card.

I chose my debit card to be withdrawn from checking account. The free trial for these offers was 30 days at which time I would be charged initial fees to start the programs. When the information arrived I cancelled, but was charged three separate amounts of $141.85 from UTalk, $121.85 from American Values and $126.85 from Wellnet. I received a refund check from Wellnet which bounced. I later received a check which did go through, although I had to pay the fee from my bank for the bounced check.

I have made easily two dozen calls in the last six months to recover my money from UTalk and American Values, always being told that the checks were put on a priority basis and they should be issued in 10-12 days. Of course they have never been issued. I made my last call today, 7/6/04, to try yet again for the refunds. I was told the same "story" that they were on priority and they could not call me back.

I have come to the end of my road. I feel this is pointless and I will never get my money back. I will never give any account numbers to anyone over the phone for this purpose. Don't be taken in like I was.
