DO NOT USE this moving company. When we received the estimate my husabnd called and spoke to Hanna (sp?). He informed Hanna that we had more to move than was listed. Hanna told him "Do not worry, we are sending a truck big enough to move a 4 bedroom house. We had 1 bedroom of furniture, coffee table and bookcases (no couch, dining room table, kitchen table etc). We also had a stove, refrigerator to move and boxes. No where near the amount for a 4 bedroom house.

Two men arrived with NO HANDTRUCK! They said the tires were flat and a handtruck with flat tires is worse than no handtruck at all. The first thing they did was to say that it's going to take longer than what was on the estimate so we had to agree to another hour before they would even begin. We figured it's going to take longer because they had to carry every box with their hands, they couldn't stack alot on a handtruck since they didn't have one. We had no choice but sign for another hour.

At the end they said they had no room for our refrigerator, (sending a truck big enough to move a 4 BR house?) I don't know if that was true or that they couldn't lift it since it was a large side by side. Either way our 1 year old Samsung side by side is still in our old house.

They unloaded everything in the pouring rain. They called the owner and asked if they could wait and her reply was "you're not made of sugar", so all of our boxes and furniture got wet. They also tracked mud all over our carpets.

In the middle of unloading they threatened to leave boxes and furniture on our lawn in the rain if we did not pay them for another hour IN CASH! At this point we didn't even use up the extra hour we paid for in the beginning, but we had no choice.

They damaged our slate coffee table, our Broyhill cedar chest and Broyhill bookcase, besides leaving behind our refrigerator.

With many letters back and forth (they will not talk to you on the phone), they offered $66.00 for all of the damages. They will not even address the 2 hours overpayment that we were forced to pay under duress.

The release and settlement claim that they wanted us to sign states that we are to keep the settlement confidential and we cannot report them or talk about them to any media, consumer group, agency etc.

I would rather let everyone know what Rip Off's this company is than to accept $66.00 for my silence.

ANOTHER AVL VICTIM SPEAKS...

#2Consumer Comment

Mon, December 03, 2012

As ANOTHER WELL-ROUNDED, EXPERIENCED  VICTIM of the AVL "alumni," I am here to briefly say that even being fully aware of their "bait & switch" tactics / operations, NO ONE in govt. lawful authority will touch these scammers!

Nevertheless, justice must be served for the hard-working, TAX-PAYING, law-abiding American consumers, who were victimized by these scammers!

Since the govt. / law refuses to have these scammers answer to them, then the govt. / law needs to answer to us victims!

Therefore, I suggest every victim* of relocation scammers, which includes the moving BROKERS and moving companys, initiate an on-line petition to be addressed and forwarded to our Atty. General and to our legislatures.

REMEMBER: our govt. is supposed to work for US consumers / tax-payes...the govt. is OUR employees...we pay their BIG salaries and benefits!

(*those of us who were wise enough not to be bought out with disgrace, aka, "silence" money!)
