A person who identified themselves as Matthew Harris, a representative from American Wireless Alarm has come to our home (located in a clearly marked non-solicitation neighborhood) several times in the last couple of months. Each time he bangs on the door and rings the bell several times, as if someone is in trouble.

When we answer the door he tells us that there have been multiple burglaries recently in our neighborhood and that he wants to make us aware. He provides a cheaply produced flyer that is titled "Burglary Alert!" and shows a list of addresses and a map of the supposed burglaries.

We were able to check on a couple of the supposed burglary addresses, since we know most of our neighbors. It is all BS. Of the three "burglaries" we checked none were home burglaries. One was a police call for a suspicious car, the other two were related to minor thiefs from unlocked vehicles in driveways.

We found it strange that the representative would consider car burglaries or suspicious vehicle reports something that an ADP home alarm system would protect against. It appears that the company and this representative are attempting to create fear to sell ADP monitored security systems.

On the last visit we asked for the company phone number and called to complain. The "company number" was answered by a guy, Bart. We believe he was actually sitting in a car two houses down from our home. He was very rude and told my wife that this is the way they conduct business and make money and that it was "too bad if we did not like it." When I confronted him at his car, he appeared frightened, picked up the "door knocking representives" and left the neighborhood.

We have reported American Wireless Alarm to the police, neighborhood association and to the ADP customer compaint representaive. We received a verbal promise from ADP corporate office to investigate but have heard nothing.

We believe this company is using deception to sign up people to install and have alarm systems monitored by ADP. Frankly, we believe that these "representatives" may be using their company as a cover to scout our neighborhood and might be a potential treat for future burglaries.
