Americredit seemed to be the only answer to purchasing a new vehicle after bankruptcy. In November of 2003 I purchased a 2003 Huyandai Accent from Elhart in Holland, Michigan. The interest rate seemed extremely high and I was paying almost $100 more per month than I had budgeted. I was told how great the safety record was with this vehicle and that my low insurance rates would help make up the difference. Little did I know that this vehicle has one of the worst ratings for safety and my insurance payment is almost the same as my car payment each month. (Even though I have no tickets on my record) I called Americredit to report that I would have to make a payment late due to the increasing insurance costs. I was told not to worry because I would only have to pay a $10 late fee and nothing would go on my credit report unless I was 30 days past due.

Apparently the customer service rep. forgot to note that my payment would be a few days late because I received a phone call at work about the payment. I informed the man that I was at work and could not talk. He asked me to set up a payment over the phone and I declined because I was at work. I told him I would call from home to make a payment. This dishonest customer service rep noted in his computer that I agreed to the payment and that I hung up to fast to receive my confirmation number. When I called to make my payment I realized that the payment was already made and another customer service rep. notified me of his comments in the computer. I asked for a tape recorded copy of the phone conversation which I was told that they do not do. All they could do for me was to waive the $18(not 10 like they had quoted me) late fee.

If I had not had the money in my account, they would have put me in bad standings with my bank.

This has made me outraged. They are already charging me 21% interest on the loan.
