Upon moving to North Carolina after buying my car in Virgina I tried to get the car title shifted to my new location. NC requires that the leinholder sends a copy of the title (front and back) to be submitted along with the appropriate paperwork.

I asked for my copy and was sent the front of the title. I took this to DMV and was told that I had to have both sides. I got on the phone and was told that the copy would be sent. Again it was only the front side. I called and had to go through 3 more agents and when I finally got to the person at the top of the line she would only talk through a second party.

I threatened to call my lawyer and finally the copy got sent. However, upon inspection of the title I noticed that "Virginia" was hand written on the back. Now if this was a copy of the original title why would they need to write ANYTHING on the back. The lady at DMV told me that the back shows that the car has not traded hands. There was nothing that showed the seal or the word copy on the back side. This leads me to believe that this was just a blank title that had nothing to do with mine. And of course I have never received a statement from them.
