My husband, before we were married, financed a car through a dealership using Americredit. He has paid on this car for the last 6 years, over $500/month making his investment in this car approx $40k - a complete ripoff to begin with.

After completing all the payments tracked monthly online and on the paper statements, all of sudden they tell us we have a "balloon payment" of about $2500. We called the company to not only request that they send us a payment history so we can see where they think we owe them an additional $2500, but we also ask the customer service rep to explain it to us - which because they are completely incompetent, can not do.

After never receiving a payment history that we requested not only once but twice, they continue to charge us for every day that the $2500 is not paid. Money we don't even begin to think we owe them and no one can explain to us. Nowhere on the monthly paper statements or online did it EVER indicate that we owed the $2500 in addition to the regular payment. So we waited on the payment history explanation to come in the mail(because they are so far behind in technology that they can't email or fax a payment history) which never came. This mind you after multiple calls to the company asking them to send one and getting incredibly biligerent, nasty customer service agents.

Getting no more notice in the mail or by phone (though they tell us they called my husbands cell phone and yet never left a message). So three months later, never getting statement after multiple calls and conversations and no other notice in the mail or by phone for payment or even payment arrangements, a repo company arrives at our door to reposses the car. A car he has made $40k in payments on - WAY over the vaue of the car brand new let alone 9 years used at this point.

And the story just gets worse. I spend a full day, a day not working, to call the company multiple times to figure out what was going on to not only get incredibly rude, once again biligerent and nasty customer service agents, not one of which could get me a manager to talk with. I had to give my account number and address and phone number every time I called in, I was never given a direct line to call to handle my situation, no one even recognized who I was after more than 15 phone calls to the same office in one day, it took them hours to call me back, and even then no one could immediately send me a payment history to verify what they were telling us we owed them and they had no note in their fantastic :( computer file on us that we had requested one. Unbelievable.

I'm told we have 10 days to rectify the account at which no time does anyone tell me that the repo company can move the car to another CITY and STATE! Which they did. And even if I wanted to rectify the account in a day I CAN'T because they can't even do a bank payment over the phone or online, you have to use cash at Western Union. Which meant I had to take another day off of work to handle running around doing that. This is on a car we've paid $40,000 dollars for - WE OWN IT!

So now the car is moved 6 hours away from where we live and WE have to go get it. And I've just talked to the repo agency and they tell me that we have to pay another $260 dollars to pick it up for their fees which again, NO ONE told us in any of the conversations we had. So now both my husband and I are going to have to take ANOTHER day off of work to go pick up a car that should never have been taken in the first place, drive 6 hours from our home to get it, pay additional fees when picking it up, lose pay (my husband works hourly and gets paid only if he works), and spend money for gas getting there and back.

This company is a disgrace, and thievary doesn't begin to describe what I think about the business practices. They are underhanded and display what I consider to be the lowest of the lowlife in humanity. I am interested in legal action so please let me know if something is being done about this company.
