I smelled a leak at the tank and asked the man filling the tank to check it. He told me it couldn't be leaking that it was fairly new and installed not that long ago. A few years later i demanded a leak check they charged me $100.00 for the leak test. As soon as the man came and opened the lid he told me it had a big leak and had been leaking for a long time. He said he could tell by the fill valve it was all black and quite thick. He said the person filling the tank should have noticed the leak. This goes to show that they do not care about the customers safety  I had a 1,000 . gallon tank filled the day before the test and had paid for it.

He disconnected the tank until they could replace it. It took them 3 weeks to exchange the tanks they replaced my  1,000 gallon with a 500 gallon tank this was in Dec. I live in Mich.
They told me they would be back in the spring to level the tank and bury the lines.  I have called 4 times they still have not finished the job  in 2 yrs. They come out and tuck the lines under the tank. There is about 4 ' of line laying on the ground.

I have contacted them several times only to be told they would return my call not once did they return my call until after I contacted the news media then within 15 min. they called me back. They promised me and the news station they would make it right wit me they still have not this why I am writing this.

After they installed the 500 gallon tank they pumped out the gas from the 1,000 gallon into the 500 gallon tank. The 1000 tank leaked 280 gallons in that 3 week period.
     Then they send me a bill for $ 4.29 a gallon and  I had already paid for the gas. I called and their solution was they would reimburse me what I had paid for earlier $ 2.29 a gallon and then I could pay the $4.29 a gallon. I told them No that It was an even exchange and that they owed me gas from their tank leaking for years.

I was going through over 2,000 a year now about 350 gallons when I contacted them again they just give me the run around and  said they do not understand how I was going through 2000 + gallons before and now only 350 I told them because their tank was leaking. They have no intentions of making this right. I have all the paper work stating it had a large leak etc and am send in all information to the attorney general. I suggest that if anyone else has had any problems with amerigas to do the same. It's the only way to make them be held responsible for their actions.

I have been a customer of amerigas for over 10 yrs.
I will be buying my own tank or going with another company I'm not sure yet until I do more investigating.
Everyone that has had problems with amerigas needs to file a complaint with the  ATTORNEY GENERAL To get anything done about amerigas!
