We bought a house after it had been unoccupied for over 1 1/2 years. It was owned by a relocation company.
On the property when we bought it was a propane tank attached to the detached garage. After about a year being in the house, I called around to have someone put gas in the tank. The tank said "serviced by Amerigas", so I called them.

They sent a credit application to my house for me to sign and then they filled up the tank. I paid cash-in-full.

A year later, I got a bill for a tank rental fee of $170. I called them and they rudely told me I had signed an agreement with them (the credit application) which states that I must pay these charges.

After much frustration, I told them to come and take the tank off my property. They should have never abandoned it on my property for 2 1/2 years since they homeowner with whom they had a contract, sold the house and vacated it.

They told me there would be a $100 pump out fee and a tank rental fee. While I was working this out via phone calls, I started to get "late fees" too.

I had been talking with the manager and each conversation it was as if she didn't remember the previous conversation. All the while, the late fees accumulated.

I finally caved and agreed to the pump out fee and the late charges just to get this over with.

A few days ago, I got a notice from a credit bureau. I had been reported by Amerigas AFTER we had reached an agreement to collect the tank.

They don't care. I am just a lowly homeowner with no recourse. They have me over a barrel. It doesn't feel very good.
