If The Rip-Off Report could help get the ball rolling with these government agencies, the defrauded AmeriTrain students would be extremely grateful.

We, the AmeriTrain students, have been trying for over a month now to get the Attornies General, Governors, Senators, Congressmen, FBI, and you name-it to get off their collective butts and do their jobs. So far, the response from each of them is "we can't help you, contact such and such" -- in other words, don't bother us, let somebody else handle it. Particullarly vexing has been the FBI, which almost seems to wish the problem would just go away, rather than do what it was created to do.

I think a big part of the problem is that, aside from AmeriTrain students, people in the government and elsewhere just don't understand the magnitude of the fraud that's happened here. Over FIVE HUNDRED (500) students in five states (North Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Georgia) have been defrauded of a total in excess of FOUR MILLION DOLLARS. Even by the standards of fraud cases, these kinds of numbers are not at all trivial; this case is huge. And even these numbers don't capture the tremendous emotional and financial devastation some of the students have suffered. At least one person is going to lose their house over this. Many others staked their futures on this education that they're now not going to receive.

Another problem is, these government agencies either don't know about or don't care about the evidence that's out there. As it stands now, there's plenty of evidence to sustain a conviction for fraud in this case; AmeriTrain fraudently represented itself to be certified to teach Microsoft and CompTIA courses, when it wasn't. That's clearly blatant, provable fraud, right there out in the open, and that's just for starters.

I don't know why the government has been so slow to move here. Perhaps there's an element of fear that always happens in situations like this, combined with the usual beaucratic laziness and indifference we all know and love. But in this case, the time has come for the laws to be enforced. Mass fraud like AmeriTrain has just perpetrated threatens not only our educational system, but the nation as a whole.

So, what I'm saying is.....if The Rip-Off Report (or anyone else for that matter) knows how to work with the government and has handled these kinds of cases successfully in the past, then please start contacting the students. Contact me. Let's get the ball rolling and see justice done.

Listing your complaint on many Government links sometimes are no better than the BBB and are most likely just a waste of time, giving you false hope. Many government sites (like the BBB) just collect all information from you, the consumer, but never make that information available for all to see, so consumers will NOT be educated as to what exactly they should be looking out for. By these agencies not letting you see these complaints, making them public, you never know how bad the company or individual rip-off really is.

On the other hand, many government agencies have and do come to the Rip-off Report for information. We have been assisting many government agencies for some time now, including the FBI and Attorney General offices from around the country..

Now that all these Rip-off Reports are out in the open for everyone to see, in a way, this embarrasses these agencies into doing something when they see so many reports on a Company or Individual, because they are now out in the open for all to see. Unfortunately, many (not all) Attorney General Office's and government agencies will not move against a rip-off unless you are well connected, or there is going to be some sort of publicity on the rip-off. By reporting your experience on the Rip-off Report, is the next best thing to getting your story on TV or in a newspaper. Most national TV networks and many local TV stations from all around the country also come to the Rip-off Report for information they will not get from the BBB, Attorney General office's or any other government agency.

Rip-off Report has instigated many local and national stories, resulting in help for victims' world wide, in one way or another. Most government agencies will never even bother with rip-offs unless it involves $50,000 or more. Now that government is cutting back even more dollars for these types of programs, this number will even get higher and we can expect even less to get done, by even less people to work on all these rip-offs.

I think what happened to you sounds like out and out theft by deception. Contact your local FBI office and look into filing a criminal complaint. There are probably enough victims to get them interested.
