I was called by Ameritrust Financial offering me a credit card. I SPECIFICALLY asked them if this was a "catalog card" or a regular card like Visa or Mastercard. I told them I was not interested in a catalog card. I was assured that this was a regular credit card which could be used for purchases anywhere.

I agreed to get the card. They required $200 up front, which would be refunded in "Payment Vouchers" of $50 each. This was to pay your minimum monthly balance each month for four months.

It took me over six weeks to get the card after they got the $200 out of my checking account. When I finally received the card, it was a "catalog card."

I called Ameritrest Financial several times asking to speak to a manager. There is never a manager there. I have left several messages.

The associate I spoke with (Latrice) told me she had no idea what the manager's name was. When I explained my problem to her, that I had been lied to and wanted my $200 back, I was told that was impossible. She told me that they had listened to the tapes of my conversation and that I had been told this was a catalog card. She said I could keep calling and trying to reach a manager, but they would tell me the same thing. The $200 was non-refundable and the fact that I was lied to had no bearing on it.

I suppose they were expecting my call since they had "listened to my recording" just before I called them!
