I received a call from Ameritrust telling me I was pre-approved for a credit card with a 2 thousand dollar spending limit. All I had to do was allow $200 to be deducted electronically from my checking account to reserve the card.

I was told that I would receive 5-$50 payment vouchers to use toward payment on my account.
When I received my acceptance letter I read that I HAD A CREDIT LINE OF $2000 after 35% down. The letter came in a hand written envelope with no return address and no web or e-mail address to respond over the internet.
I called the customer care department and was then told that my $2000 credit card was to be used for THEIR catalog.

I said I wanted my money back, was told that it was non refundable. I then requested to speak to a manager. At that time I was put on hold for 20 minutes and was never spoken to again.

I would never have agreed to a catalog credit card. I am a single woman who works two jobs and I am trying to rebuild my credit after a nasty divorce and this company has put me into a financial bind.

They say in my acceptance letter that I would receive 4-$50 vouchers, so they are in breach of the verbal contract as well as misrepresenting themselves as a regulr visa credit card card offer.

I need to know how to instigate a class action lawsuit against them.
