Complaint Review: AMETHYST BEACH MOTEL

We had a chat party at the AMETHYST BEACH MOTEL in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. Our group had booked 20 rooms with this motel. I went to my room and I was astonished..there was horrible mildew in the bathroom and the paneling was actually peeling off the wall. These were absolutely horrible conditions. I asked to be moved to another room which AGAIN I found mildew and the paneling peeling off the wall. The doors stuck shut to the point where someone had to crawl through my window and help me get out of my room. The other people in our group also experienced the same thing. One night, a person not in our group, having asthma could not get out of her room because the door had jammed shut. She went into a panic attack and the fire department and paramedics had to be called. They had to climb up a ladder on the back side of the building, crawl through her window and actually take apart the lock to get her out.



Three out of the four days I was there, I never had maid service. I had to ask for clean towels and never once received a wash cloth. My bed was never made and the sheets were never changed in the 4 days I was there. The ice machine was broken. I asked for ice and the management told me that they had ice for sale for $1.25 a bag. I am to pay for something that should be furnished to the guests? Believe me, if our group of 40 could have found another motel on such short notice, we all would have left the Amethyst Beach Motel!!!
Everyone in the group that drove there or rented vehicles was charged $5.00 a DAY for parking, $2.00 a day for "amenities" (which the management could not or WOULD not explain) and $3.00 a day for a continental breakfast, whether we ate it or not. Our planning manager was not told about any of these charges when making the reservations.
When I got there I was billed for my room, directly asking the receptionist if I was paid up through Monday morning, when I was departing. She told me yes, yet Sunday night at 8:30pm I was contacted by the front desk telling me that I needed to pay yet another nights stay. As did all the other people that were still attending the party. I still can't figure out if I paid the correct amount or if I was over-billed, (which I believe I was...as do the others) All in all, this was a horrible experience and I'm sure you will be hearing from others about these same issues. This is a horrible imagine for the New Jersey Beach area. What a total disappointment for someone traveling all the way from Washington State. BEWARE OF THE AMETHYST BEACH MOTEL.
