Dr. Ami Baxi is another American born but foreign educated Dr. who clearly went out of the country to get the education she was denied in the US. When I encountered her incompetence and unprofessional amateurism and laughable lack of basic drug knowledge, she was in residency/training at what she refers to as Stony Brook University Hospital but was in fact a hit or miss setup headed by Dr. Erik Fink known as Stony Brook Outpatient, in an entirely different location than the hospital itself. People would be assigned to a resident until they left one year later. On the surface, a good setup for people of limited resources, but considering the severity of many of the emotional illnesses, not appropriate for people in training to be calling the shots. Ami S. Baxi, MD couldn't diagnose my difficulties and made bad calls all the way when my dosage level, which had been effective for over a half dozen years, was suddenly not effective. I was the one actually making suggestions on increasing certain meds! The aftermath was frightening and resulted in a complete and unmitigated disaster at a different branch of Stony Brook University Hospital which resulted in pending legal action. Dr. Baxi covered for this other co-worker, treated me in a callous manner by contacting me at my home via phone when I forbade her from doing so, and kept at it with follow up letters. She is now affiliated with Lenox Hill Hospital with Inpatient Emergency which, given her lack of understanding in basic psychiatry, will probably result in a lawsuit. She brings to mind the old saying: Anyone who would pay that kind of money to see a Psychiatrist ought to have their head examined. In her case, there isn't anything the least bit comical about it. She has no concept of what she's doing, and I have made it clear that should I be harassed by her any further I will contact the police. Yes, I'm serious.
