My experience with amp cellular was marked by disgust and frustration.

I signed up for mobile phone service from Amp Cellular's SIM card and my American phone. I did not know my exact return date to the States. The customer representative in the store told me that the date I put down is just an idea for them of how long I intend to keep the service and is non-binding.

The customer representative proceeded to schmooze with me and distracted me from my original questions about the fine print. Several months later when I needed to return to the States before the date I told them, they said that I am breeching my contract and that I must pay a penalty fee.

After spending so much of my time on the phone with them and not getting anywhere because the customer apparently enjoy arguing and contradicting everything I gave up.

On a subsequent visit to Israel I was told about another company that is high on value and transparency, Golan Telecom. They required no contracts, gave unlimited everything, and were a fraction of the cost. They gave no problem in ending my service when I left and gave me a reason to return to them when I visit Israel again. The reason I didn't use them before was because they didn't accept foreign credit cards. Now they do.

You have many options for mobile service in Israel. Do not be fooled by pretty graphics on a webpage or sly customer reps. Make sure to do a little research.

Good luck and safe travels
