NYC,
New York,

I just want to ask about the BBB - Why do they help crooked companies?

#2Consumer Suggestion

Tue, June 18, 2002

I was ripped off several months by LD Calling Plan but I checked with the BBB before I considered doing business with them. Guess what, they had a clean record.

Then after I cancelled my account and they continued to take the money out of my bank account I called the police to learn what to do. I was referred to the New York Attorney Generals office and the BBB to complain.

I am still waiting for somebody to do something about this. I never heard back from the BBB and the AG is still investigating. It just isn't right. I have been reading on this website about all the complaints about this company - it looks like over 100 complaints. I would think more people know about the BBB than know about this website and I just can't believe that the BBB has fewer complaints about this company than this website has.

My question is this: How can the BBB get away with doing this and giving companies who are rip-offs good ratings? I trusted the BBB and now am out a bunch of money, about $500. Can somebody help me, too?
