This incident occurred at Amscot Financial Services located  Kissimmee, FL 34741 when I went there to return and encash a money order I bought previously. When I handed over the money order to the Amscot agent named Lester, he asked me to sign on the back of it and write the words Not used for purpose intended. I did what he asked me to do. After getting it back in his possession he said that he could not refund my money as the money order has no value. When I asked him give the money order back to me he said he could not do that too. He asked me to leave. I argued that this was my property and requested him to return the instrument even though he thinks it does not have any value.

I waited there for more than 30 minutes and tried to convince the agents at the branch that they cannot just take my property away without my consent. They threatened me saying they would call the police and force me to leave the place. Argument continued until I realized it was getting late to bring my kid home from the school and I left the place.

I felt ignored, insulted, and getting robbed by the Amscot employees. Even though it was a matter involving a money order worth $7.00 (seven dollar) only, this is an instance of unfair business practice and very poor customer service by an organization in financial services industry. This situation could have been easily avoided by Amscot staff. Instead they treated me badly and caused me to waste my valuable time.
