I contacted Amsouth after noticing a charge on my credit card that was debited twice. So, instead of paying x for a commodity, I paid 2x. A phone representative from Amsouth acknowledged that the error was probably theirs, and sent a form for me to complete. I filled out the form, and returned it by mail. I heard nothing from them, and followed up with several trips to the bank to inquire about the phantom funds. I have filled out the same form twice more. Finally I gave up. Its been about a year, and the problem is still not resolved. Yet, I really can't complain that they aren't very nice and pleasant and personable people at the bank. Indeed, I get the feeling they are unable to track down the problem or the paperwork either. Its a massive hassle to switch banks right now, I've just about written the whole thing off as an involuntary business expense--about 80 bucks. But they must reap a lot of money from customers who don't have the time to chase down each error.
