Ancestry And My Family Continued charges on crdit card Found out charges started by using free entry and not notifying company to stop Still unethical in my opinion Provo Utah
Finally got through to Ancestry and the operator told me the charges were for signing up for a years contract by using the free guest sample and I did not tell them to stop it.
I think I should have the right to visit the "free" segment without having to notify them of the cancelation. I'll not use that program again.

Dispute the charge and complain

When I tried for 2 days to get through on their 800 number and couldn't, I waited until my credit card got billed then successfully disputed the charge. At least at times in the past long waits on the 800 number have not been unusual. If something is free, there is no need for a credit card number otherwise there is a hook in it. There is lots more info about this company on the RipOff Report.
