I canceled my membership at Ancestry.com before the end of a two-week trial. They proceeded to charge my card for the next four months and refuse to refund the $88.00 even though the representative said that she could see that I had not logged in since the date I canceled. She said that their refund policy requires a confirmation number, which I never received. If you sign up for their service, I recommend that you cancel over the phone and have a confirmation email sent to you for your records. This is a very shady business practice, the same kind used by pornography sites to swindle money. Shameful!
