I paid $229.00 to My Family Ancestry on 2/25/04. This I ordered !

Now as I try to open Ancestry for 1910 Texas Federal Census I get the message that my "user name & code can not be found, try again".

What did I pay $229.00 for !

Please respond.[DELETED]

How did they get your credit card number? By a "Free Trial" requiring a credit card number maybe? If so there is a hook in the "Free Trial". Under the "terms and conditions" you agreed to when you signed up (whether your read them or not) it specifically states they have auto-renewal.

That means you must call their 800 number to cancel or they will continue to charge you until do so. They will not accept an email cancellation. Is auto-renewal combined with the requirement to call that 800 number as the only way to cancel legal? I don't know.

You could complain at the links below:
The 1st link is where you can file a complaint with the Federal trade commission. The second link is where you can file a complaint with the BBB. You can find a list of all the state attorney generals, including Utah, the home state of My family.Com, the owner of Ancestry.com, Genealogy.com and Rootsweb at the third link. The 4th link is the Internet Fraud Complaint Center.
