Complaint Review: ANDGOR TOY COMPANY

I, too, found out about Andgor from an article in Entertainment Weekly magazine. I thoroughly perused their website and decided I wanted to have a figure of my husband made. I put in an inquiry and someone called me back, at which time we discussed in detail the type of figure I wanted. The price was $500 and I was told that they would begin work on the "proof" copy as soon as they received half payment.

Wary to give an unknown company my credit card information, I decided (stupidly) to mail them a check to get started. A couple of months went by, and the date for which I needed it was aproaching, so I tried to email and call them several times. No response. Twice I actually got an operator on the phone, but she said that she could not help me or give me any information, as she was just an operator, and the person I needed to speak with was not in. I felt very frustrated, but as I work many, many hours, I couldn't dedicate much time to tracking down this d**n toy company, so I kind of put it on the back burner.

One day, out of the blue, I got an email that contained pictures of my proof! They said that as soon as I gave final approval, and paid the remaining half, they would finish up the painting, etc. and send it out! I was so excited. It looked great, so I replied to the email saying, "Looks great! I can't wait! I am paying my remaining half by credit card. I don't like putting my credit card info thru the internet, so call me and I'll give you the number!" I never heard back.

At this point, I knew that they had created my figure. It's not like they just sit there and take peoples' money and don't actually make these toys! They do make them; I just fail to understand why they would go to all the effort of making it, sending me photos, and then not want to sell the d**n thing! Its crazy. I was TRYING to give them money and no one would pick up the phone. What the hell kind of business is this???

After giving them 3 months to respond to my dozens of phone calls, messages, and emails, I attempted to take recourse through my bank, but too much time had passed for them to be able to charge back payment on my check. I contacted the Florida Atty General and some State and local Consumer Affairs/consumer protection bureaus, which are complete B. S. All they do is send the company a letter on your behalf. After they get no response, which is of course what happens, then they send a second letter. Then the case is closed if they receive no response from the offender. Wouldn't it be great to be a scam artist in Florida!!! No consequesces!

I sincerely hope that anyone considering purchasing from Andgor toys reads this first before they get screwed, too!
