There is a reason the words "used car salesman" conjure up an image of a greasy no-good trickster. While this isn't necessarily a fair stereotype - some salespeople are just decent hardworking people - it is a stereotype for a reason. It's true more often than not. When buying a used car, it can be hard to separate the facts from the salespitch and is why this web site is so very good for us, as consumers, so that we can steer clear of the "stereo-type" used car salespeople and dealerships that give all the others a bad name and reputation. One such salesperson and dealersship everyone should steer clear of is Hot Ride Motors in Philadelphia; specifically the biggest weasel in the business, Andrei Losev, who all his life, has been a con man but now has become a Weasel. Andrei works out of Hot Ride Motors with his partner, Sam Laken, who apparently is a snake, lol (see other rip off reports on Sam, The Snake lol)

How did the notorious con man, Andrei Losev, emerge from just a typical run of the mill, con man, into a weasel, you ask?

There once was a used car salesman named Andrei Losev. Losev loved to sell cars that were basically lemons. The engines needed repairing and the transmissions typically were faulty. Andrei Losev is as dishonest as they come..........selling his used cars with no guarantee but telling his customers that the vehicles he sells have all been state inspected and have no issues whatsoever.

One day, a little old man walked up to Hot Ride Motors and said to Andrei Losev, "How much you want for that red car with the fancy wheels?" Losev looked over at the car and said "You look like a nice man. I'll make a special deal with you beings we are getting in new inventory and will need the space". For only $2500, you can drive this car right off the lot today".

The old man looked the car over carefully and asked Losev, "Anything wrong with this vehicle?" to which Losev shook his head no and said "ALL" his vehicles have been state inspected before being put up for sale.

Andrei Losev was lying. The transmission was bad. The brakes and rotors were shot. It needed a new catallytic converter. The cost to repair this vehicle in order for it to 'pass' state inspection was a little more than $3000!!!

"I'll take it", said the old man. and "I just want you to know that if this car is no good, I will turn you into a weasel".

Andrei Losev just laughed. "I've been turned into a lot of things but never a weasel".

The next day the little old man came back to Hot Ride Motors - this time encountering both Losev and also a heavy set younger salesman, Sam (the snake) Laken. Losev saw the old man and ran the other way sending the heavy set salesman over to deal with the old man. The old man was very angry and marched right into the trailer to confront Losev and let him have it and said "This car is a hunk of junk. There are all kinds of repairs that need to be made. I had this car thoroughly checked out and I want my money back".

Both Andrei Losev and Sam Laken were thoroughly amused by this old man, saying basically "I'm sorry but once you take a car off this lot, it's your responsibility to take care of it. Now, please leave....There are other customers that need attending to".

The little old man looked straight at Andrei Losev and said, "You have swindled your last customer. From this day forward, you shall be a weasel."

A little boy could be overheard saying to his father, "Say, Pop, there goes the Weasel." And the car salesman remained a weasel for the rest of his life.

Seeing what others have said about this dealership and these two shady characters has prompted me to add in my two cents albeit a bit of humor, lol, but seriously, even though it has been several months since this has happened to this old man........my father, it was not an experience that was in any way humorous.

These two represent the worse in the business and they absolutely take advantage of people, (who should but Don't know any better), in such a way that indeed marks the 'stereotype' of the typical dishonest and shady used car salesman. Sure my old man should have known better and should have at least had someone look over the car BEFORE handing over his money but he is from a different generation.............a different time.........born and raised to trust and take others at their word. A very costly mistake to say the least as that vehicle was never repaired due to being too costly to do so and ended up being sold for parts and scrap at a time when the going rate for scrap metal was at its all time highest. End of story. Lesson learned.

If this were indeed a 'perfect world' the little old man would have turned out to be Merlin the Magician and Andrei the Weasel Losev would have been put out of business, thus ensuring that no other unsuspecting and trusting individual would be at the mercy of these two sleazy lying used car salesmen, Andrei the Weasel Losev and Sam The Snake Laken, working out of Hot Ride Motors in Philadelphia, PA

His Dad, I think, got screwed by Hot Ride Motors

I think the point, that Bruzas was trying, to make. here, in his complaint, of this dealership, was that these guys, at Hot Ride Motors, screwed his old man, not him, and how I took, what I read, was that Bruzas agrees wholeheartedly, with you, that his Dad did it all backwards!

I have first hand knowledge, of these guys, at Hot RIde Motors, and can tell you, that this is the kind of dealership, who PREY on the unknowing and too trusting. I'd be writing the same kind of story, as Bruzas, had my wife gone, to that dealership, without me, as she would have, no doubt, made the same kind of costly mistake, as this guy's Dad!

OF COURSE, Bruzas's Dad did it all backwards!!! and should have taken someone, with him, that day, when he went out to get a car, and OF COURSE he should have gotten the vehicle checked out, by his mechanic, BEFORE he gave them, ANY of his money and more important, BEFORE his Dad signed anything!

And the moral of this story is that there are lots of honest used car salesmen and dealerships out there, but there will always be those out there, like this one, and we, as consumers, really need, to be on our toes and Not take anyone, at their word and before signing or buying anything, we need to have any vehicle checked out by our own mechanics.

These guys are the worse of the worse. They actually shredded my drivers license, after my walking out of there, one day, and seeing me go across the street, to their competitiion and then laughed in my face, when I went back in and asked for the return of my drivers license.

Listen, Dude, if you are anywhere near the city of 'brotherly' love LOL and in the market for a good used car, my advice to you, would be NOT to go anywhere near Hot Ride Motors, home of the 'notorious', Sam, the Snake, Laken, and Andrei, The Weasel, Losev, LOL...........

and by all means, if you have a naive, too trusting wife, father, family member, friend, who is in the market, for a used car, Do not let them venture out alone, as there are lots out there, like these guys, at Hot Rides, who PREY on those, who SHOULD but DON'T know any better, than to trust their fellow man and to take others, at their word.

It's sad, isn't it, that we can no longer trust nor take one another, at their word anymore? My own Dad talks, of a time, when they didn't even have to lock their doors, at night, and thought nothing of going out, for the day, even, and leaving their doors unlocked and everytime I go, to his home, in North Philly! and find his door UNLOCKED, I blast him and tell him about the possibiliy of home invasions and he looks at me, as though I had 2 heads or something, lol. It's like I am talking to the wall when I try to educate my own Dad, by telling him, that we live in a different day and time and that those days, where you could TRUST in a stranger, are long gone and I couldn't help but think, of my own Dad, while reading, how these guys totally Ripped Off this guy's old man, as my own Dad is just as trusting and as naive as this guy, but at the same time, I understand, that it's hard, not to be, when you've been raised, in a different time, where you COULD trust that when someone tells you something, it is usually the truth.

Hopefully after consumers read about the horrible experiences, that people have had with these guys, they will soon be out of business, but no doubt there are plenty more just like them out there, waiting to Rip-You Off!

You did it backwards

So Bruzas, what is the point of buying a car and THEN taking it over to your mechanic to have it inspected? I have no doubt that they sold you a piece of junk, but come on! According to you, you took this lemon straight over to your mechanic and had it back at the car lot the next day. By then I'm sure you'd signed a sales contract and have the mandated FTC sticker that says you're buying the car "as is" with no warranty. You're pretty much screwed by that point. Why didn't you have the car inspected before you bought it. An honest dealer will have no problem with a customer having the car inspect before the sale.
