Andrew Webber -Andrew Wutt From Wutt.ca Took My Deposit And Ran Website scam, web designer fraud, con artist, scam artist Toronto Ontario
I posted an ad on Craigslist saying I required a website done and wanted to get it all turned around very quickly. I already had the full design done but required a web builder to cut it up and make it functional for the web. Andrew Webber from Wutt.ca contacted me right away and said he could complete the project for $350.
Being in quite a hurry to get the site live, I agreed after checking out his work and his website, thinking that he was fully capable and a down to earth guy. He told me that he required a 50% deposit, which I paid him through email money transfer that same day.
My graphic designer sent him all of the files a few weeks ago, and then I didn't hear from him from a few days. After contacting him, he said he would be working on it that day. So I gave him 5 days before following up with him again. He asked if I would be available to review in 90 minutes (this was at around 10pm on a Wednesday night). I said sure. I waited until 2am and still no website, nor any contact from Andrew.
The next morning I asked him if he had forgotten about me. He said no, he had fallen asleep at the computer. No apology, no nothing. So I wrote back asking when i should expect the site. He said he was working to get it up by noon. Noon came and went, and again I followed up. He said he had to get his son registered for the YMCA program and that we could review first thing in the AM.
The AM came and went, and I contacted him AGAIN and no response. For days. I wrote him an email saying I was getting worried and that he should just be honest with me on a realistic deadline and I just really need him to commuicate. No response. Finally, about 5 days later I decided to look up his name in fear that something happened to him! Stupid stupid me, actually being worried about him.
Low and behold, I found a slew of reports and complaints about him all over the internet! I sent him one more email with the link to these complaints and that if he doesn't refund my money, I will contact my lawyer. Andrew came out of the woodwork and said that "this will be rectified ASAP, I assure you of that". But obviously, reading all of this, he assurances mean nothing.
More than the $175 deposit I lost is the valuable time I have lost in getting this site up - what a waste of time this guy was and moreso, what a lowlife scam artist. Beware of this guy, especially on Craigslist where he seems to be on the prowl, looking for his next trusting victim.
