Complaint Review: Angel Brainard Mare Watchers LLC

Was born Sherry M. Brainard but after her divorce from Mr. Staudinger she became involved with a Indian Man and conned her way into a tribe and changed her name to Angel according to family sources.  They were raised in a normal middle class family but for some reason Sherry wasn’t happy and left home at the age of 14 to join the carnival. From there choices she has made in her life haven’t been the best. After her father’s stroke she was reported by family sources to take advantage of her father’s diminished capacity to further herself financially with no remorse. This seems to be her M.O. through life to anyone she comes in contact with.

Over the passed couple decades has left many horses ruined and abused along with people financially crippled. Claims to be a LLC but no legal paperwork can be found to prove such claims.

Mare Watchers LLC as Stated by Mare Stare whom she was a client of turned off her cams for suspected animal abuse, or I can say with my personal experiences with her complete lack of caring or knowledge of horses.  Her along with a friend stole the codes  and had help rewriting them enough to legally get away with it. Slandered the owner of Mare Stare and then offered the service for much lower prices. I totally believe this to be the creditable truth after seeing saved conversations on the computer Angel left.  

So for all these years you all have been paying for stolen goods per se. She then has used the Mare Watchers forum to start fund raising money for her personal use and finding people to take advantage of.

Over the last decade or more she has been evicted and foreclosed on from place after place when the people she was taking advantage and abusing had enough and stopped paying her bills. Unfortunately none of them would make it public or if they tried the kool aid drinkers in the Mare Watcher group on Facebook who have never met her in person would believe the lies she told and all gang up on the person. Most so dense that they can’t even figure out the simple equation that ALLLL these people have “screwed” Angel over, but yet they all have the same story about her, that maybe JUST maybe it’s Angel and not the whole world as she claims. 

Her M.O. is using her horses to lure those not really educated in horses to bring on as “Business Partners” for her breeding program of semi mediocre animals that most everyone else with an elementary knowledge or conformation would not breed. The color Genetics may be rare and there maybe a couple decent blood lines. However the animals themselves conformation and minds aren’t worth breeding and the offspring have for the most part have had issues such as, cow hocked, legs on one side longer then the other, Bone density from one side to the other is different. Head and face formation like a Picasso painting. She scammed people to do labor and feed her horses’ not just pay for them. When a issue such as explosive diarrhea with major weight loss or a horse coming up 3 leg lame you tell her let’s get the vet out is .. hey answer is always “They will be ok just leave them” Her way of treating a horse that broke it’s foot was to lock it in a stale for 6 months causing major issues on the other 3 legs and feet and a horse under the age of 5 is now ruined. Not to mention it wasn’t even her horse but one she was leasing to breed. She never contacted the owner and they had to find out 5th hand.

In March of 2018 Angel attempted her scam again but failed to educate herself on the laws in the state and picked someone with a much higher I.Q. then herself. She signed a contract at that time and then when the hurricanes hit and she finally started moving the rest of her animals and belongings she asked for a new lease which was granted. She never came back. In December after a full demand of payment it was reported back from a source in contact with Angel that she was going to send a shipper and go to Minnesota instead of moving to the leased property. Again after several times of asking for her to pay for the feed for her animals, that by the law the land owner must provide or be charged for neglect, a stablemen’s lien went into effect along with the laws of Abandonment on the personal property and cats she left in the apartment. She was given three more opportunities to get her animals and or property and choose to not do so even when she came on Feb 14th 2018 to retrieve the cats from the shelter were they were being held. All of Angels Property and cats were removed form the property after her son who have been arrested several times on many Felonies and spent time in Prison for two counts of Sexual Assault of a Minor threaten to come onto the property and stated “There is nothing you can do to stop me” Feared for the well being of herself and young daughter. According to family members and others that have been in contact with him they say to not take this lightly. So the Sheriffs office, Face Book were both notified. Yes, He has a Face Book. They keep shutting him down and he just makes a new one.

I stepped up and took on the Financial responsibility for the Blind Mare and One Stallion.

The first Vet visit was Feb. 14th Over 1000.00 in services to find many neglect issues on the 3 mares and Foxy the half blind 22 year breeding mare that was having explosive diarrhea and major weight loss even with being wormed, diet change and sand cleared was advised to put down.

Feb 18th

Farrier came out and accessed all the feet which haven’t been trimmed from what we are hearing in over a year or more. None of the horses would give their feet. Were all head and face shy, scared of a twitch and blew through drugs like they were water.

Second vetting was also done and the one stallion was gelded and found to have severe neglect of genital hygiene for well over a year build up or more. No one had ever seen anything so bad not even the 2 vets. To make matters worse Angel was breeding him with that filth and now mares could have underlying infections no one knows about and be bred. 

Feb 22nd Appointment for recheck of the other horses leaving the next day and vetting on other horses were done. The old mare was suppose to be put down and taken for Necropsy but the Meds weren’t available so rescheduled for Monday Feb 25th at the clinic at which time was done.

Final Vet Notes:

Physical exam findings: Left eye is not visual. It is a phthisis bulbi. There is clear ocular discharge and she does squint as if it is painful. The right eye may have a very small amount of vision left but is also turning into a phthisis bulbi. Mucus membranes are slightly pale with a CRT of 2.5s. Ears and nose are WNL. Cardiopulmonary auscultation revealed a grade 4 heart murmur, loudest on the left. Lungs auscult clear. Abdominal auscultation revealed slightly hypermotile gut sounds in all quadrants. No LN enlargement is appreciated. The owner reports that she has intermittent diarrhea that has not improved with deworming nor dietary adjustments. BCS is a 6 today.

Due to her deteriorating condition, lack of vision, and the amount of pain she is in, the owner elected humane euthanasia.

March 6 2019 I called and talked to the vet in charge of the necropsy. The Pathology and other test that were ordered on all layers of eyes and organs will take another 3 weeks to finish but the physical  preliminary findings: Right side of heart grossly dilated. Liver was failing due to heart. Edema on the kidneys. Sections of the Intestinal walls thinning. But the biggest thing was they have never ever seen eyes like hers. (Basically they have been painfully rotting for years.) Last but not least, No, she was not pregnant and being the condition of her ovaries chances of conceiving again were slim to none.

(Which was the only reason she was being kept alive, was to be a baby maker. She bred her to T in August and luckily did not take. )

In closing we are hoping to make sure this doesn’t happen to another person. I am also hoping for all those that have privately came forward will also tell of your of your dealings with her.  I also contest that everything I have written have come from personal conversations and or I personally witness myself.
