Declaration of Fred Madrid
I, Fred Madrid, declare and state that the following is true
and within my own personal knowledge:
1. I am an active duty U.S. Marine. In November
of 2010, I was stationed at Camp Pendleton with my brother, Darrin Madrid, when I bought a 1996 Dodge Ram
pickup (VIN 1B7KF26W6TS573573) from a dealership in
Oceanside called Angelos Kars.
2. Navy Federal Credit Union lent me the money
to buy the pickup and was supposed to be on the title as
the legal owner. But after I bought the pickup, I had
trouble getting the registration and title from the
dealership and so did my credit union. After about six
months the credit union told me they would have to raise
my interest rate because they could not get title for the
pickup from the dealer. The credit union switched my
loan to an unsecured loan, raised my interest rate, and
increased my payments each each month.

3. In the summer of 2011, I learned I was going to
be deployed, but still didnt have the registration or title
to the pickup. Before I left for Egypt, I gave the pickups
keys and a power-of-attorney to my brother, Darrin
Madrid, to try and get title to the pickup while I was on
deployment.
4. When I left on deployment my pickup was
parked outside my barracks at Camp Pendleton. I was
gone on deployment on July 12, 2011. When I came back
from deployment my pickup was still parked outside my
barracks.
5. I have never received the registration or
certificate of title for the pickup.
6. If I had known that the dealer did not have title
to the pickup I would not have bought it.
7. If I had known that the pickup had not passed a
smog test I would not have bought it.

8. If I had known the dealer planned to get a fake
smog certificate I would not have bought the pickup.
I declare under penalty of perjury under the laws of
the State of California that the foregoing is true and
correct.
