Hello,
On 09/21 & we were preparing to evacuate in response to Hurricane Rita's approach to the Texas gulf coast.
We have several animals, but two are quite large so we sought to board them. After calling 27 places I called Animana & to my surprise & delite they were open & accepting boarders!!

I was told on the phone that the animals had to have updated vaccine records before they could be boarded so we called their vet who came down & gave them each what they were lacking for boarding services to be uptained. Off we went to the place, the staff was very friendly & took the animals in right away while we filled out the needed paperwork. We had planned to board the dogs three days while the storm passed but before we could finish the paperwork the person helping us recieved a phone call & her & the other female employee left the room.

They came back a while later & told us that the Dr. had called & said that because of the storm all boarders would NOW be charged for a weeks services no matter how long they actually stayed. Because of the uncertainty of the storm that didn't bother us, it was more than we wanted to spend but at least the animals would be safe. Then they told us that he was also now requiring that all boarders recieve his full vaccination package ($59 per dog!) regardless of whether they'd already been vaccinated or NOT!

We told them that we'd just spent $180 at their vet because of what we'd been told on the phone. They said it didn't matter. The dogs would be vaccinated AGAIN!!!! We asked to speak to the Dr. whom a male employee told us was in the back, but the female in charge who left the room three times to talk to the Dr. during our visit told us that he was not there & that we could not talk to him on the phone even though he supposedly called THREE times while we stood there! We did leave the dogs we have to leave & have no choice but these are EXTREMELY unsavory business practices!!

Today I picked up the dogs & they are filthy. The smell of urine in SO strong that I've no idea how I am ever going to get the smell out of my car. So, not only were we CONNED & price gouged, our animals were not even cared for properly. Please avoid doing business with this company!!!

You need to contact your AG's office and advise them of the problems you had with this place. Contact the local news media and ask them if they will run a story on the treatment you and your companion animals received. I'll be you weren't the only one being ripped off. You also need to contact your vet and find out if having two sets of vaccinations that close together could have harmed your dogs.

Clear case of price gouging. Attorney General of Tx is suppose to have a spot on his web site for just such cases. We took in a women from Houston last Wed. with her two giant dogs for 6 days. Glad we could help. My 3 cats weren't too happy. They'll get over it, eventually. My drop a line to the humane soc. also. They'll look hard at giving double vacs to your pets.
