AnnualCreditReport.com Wasted my time Atlanta Georgia
annualcreditreport.com is a scam in my opinion. Their website is a piece of crap and can't seem to verify the simpliest of information about you in order to obtain your "free" annual credit report from the 3 scum bag credit reporting agencies (Transunion, Equifax, and Experian). Ha, what a joke of a site.
Using their automated telephone request service is just as bad. Their computer cannot seem to recognize a simple yes or no and pushing 1 and 2 on your phone doesn't work so well either.
Ha, I have an old Experian report that has my old address on it and my mortgage account number, but when I fill in the info., like street number, zip code and mortgage account number, their piece of crap website can't verify me. Ummmmmm, if it is on my Experian report shouldn't it suffice to verify who I am. Do they have other info. in their database that is different from what they print out on their reports?
I had the same problems attempting to obtain my husband's "free" annual credit report from the 3 scum bag credit reporting agencies. Didn't matter that I know my address and previous addresses and social security number and driver's license number and mortgage account number and credit card numbers. They just don't really want to give the reports for free and like they are suppose to do annually.
They are just facade so the 3 scum bag credit reporting agencies can act like they are doing what the Federal Trade Commission requires of them. I think they would really want you to become frustrated with piece of crap website and automated telephone service in order to get you to go to their website and pay for your credit report.
Now I don't understand why the 3 scum bag credit reporting agencies think it is okay to collect a bunch of crap information about people and then charge the people in order to see what crap info. they are reporting about them. Who the heck do they think they are anyway?
So, I'm suppose to pay money and waste my time trying to get these scum bags to give me a copy of my report and then waste more time and money on trying to get them to correct their crap information. I don't understand why they are allowed to waste so much of my money and time.

Yea they try to trip you up and make it as hard as you can to get that free report. But I think the problem is more with the agencies more than annualcreditreport.com
Transunion has refused more than once to give me the report. Explanation: "we cannot provide you with a personal credit report" and then suggests I call them. Of course they provide no number or way to contact them. I have never been able to get my report from them as to date. Last time I gave up , but this time I filled a complaint with (((Redacted))) . I may try the FTC directly but not holding out any hope.
The other sneaky thing they do is make it hard to dispute things. Unlike (((Redacted))) (((Redacted))) will not deny me the report but I have like 2 credit cards listed that are not mine (actually they are my fathers-1 opened about 4-5 years before I was born, the other when I was about 10 years old). They will let me dispute address, employer etc, but not those credit cards. When I bought my first house a few years ago those cards came up and they were supposed to have been removed..well they are still there. Only good thing is they are both positive but what if they were negative and I was stuck with them?
I honestly think these companies need to be better regulated so they don't try to trip up folks when trying to get these reports. And if they refuse to give the owners of this data their own report, then they should be barred from giving them out to anyone else. You should have the legal right to dispute items that are not yours-the way and the way it is now you can't in a pratical sense.
Bottom line they are crooks and need to be better regulated.
sorry, allowing you to give a competitors name would instigate others to just file against their competition, to only come back later to suggest their company your comments on this policy are welcome! annualcreditreport.com is useless. If I didn't know better, I would think that the 3 major credit bureaus want you to pay for your credit report, despite the fact that the law provides for one free account per year. I'm being sarcastic; I'm positive that it's exactly what they want consumers to do.
I had problems verifying my info. I have an auto loan. One of the choice was Citi Financial Mortgage. My loan is with Citi Financial Auto which was not listed, so I chose none of the above. After I filled out the online form and come to the end, I was informed that there was a security issue and I would have to provide ID.
So I tried again, this time the site said I entered the validation code wrong...three times! I'm sure the 3 major credit bureaus are hoping that consumers will give up and pay for their credit report.

On the same site. We've used this site since it first became available, and have only had a problem twice (thats for 6 different adults). In both instances it was because they had they wrong address on the verification question. A computer glitch had seperated the numbers on one (example: instead of 6789 it was listed as 6 789) and on the other it was because they had listed the address as SE instead of NE. Both times we had to wait for an actual hard copy through the mail to straighten it out.
This is the only site that I've found that you can actually get your credit report at no cost, so it's well worth the effort to get it straightened out. You'll only have to do it one year, and the advantages of doing so far outweigh the damage that could be done by incorrect information or someone using your information for their own gain.
Good Luck!
