Antivirus 2009 virus alert pop ups saying my computer was in danger of many viruses Nationwide
One day just surfing the net and all this stuff came up on screen saying i had viruses from trojans to worms. Panic and thought it was reputtable so i agreed to let my card be charged. not working after intial scan they said they found the problems. Contacted them 3 times and called "bogus phone number that was given. upon further investigating found out that i am not the only one.

You should use the feature in Windows to BLOCK ALL POP UPS!
Then you will not ever get these messages, and if you don't get them in the first place, you will not be tempted to click on them.
And, if you had your own antivirus/security program installed and up to date and set up properly, you would never have had an issue.
I cannot believe how many people get on the internet with little or no anti-virus protection and security.
FYI..."Antivirus 2009" is a malicious program. As was "Antivirus 2008" and "Antivirus 2007" and so on.
NEVER click on an ad in a pop up or in a spam email.
Use some common sense.
Verify who you are dealing with...FIRST!

Happened to my husband a while back - he was on legitimate site clicked on link to view a demo and got the same message.
it downloaded the virus, changed the homepage designation so it kept going to the same Anti-Virus site to purchase their product - when it was that site that gave us the d**n thing.
I used my own anti-virus programs both in normal and safe mode.
Went to microsoft website and pulled their latest anti-virus/worm program (free) ran it both in normal and safe modes.
We still had to call in someone to do a final fix, but it got the worst taken care of.

I have seen this before. Antivirus 2009 is a fake antivirus program, itself is a virus.
