I was looking to purchase a boxer from a breeder. I did an online search and anypets.com (boxerpuppiesforsale.com) kept coming up. I read through their site and sent them an email to inquire about their puppies. A couple of days later one of their sales people called me, asked me a number of questions about family members and such then together we found a picture of a beautifull puppy.

I proceeded to go through the purchasing process and was promised her delivery would be in about 2 weeks. I received a couple additional calls from their team regarding the "Lifetime Warranty", how to care for her when she first arrives and what items to purchase and have with me ect..

I hadn't heard from them for over a week and she was expected in 2 days. I didn't have a flight number or arrival time so I tried to call them. The phone just rang, no voicemail or answering machine, nothing. I emailed numerous times and continued to call, still nothing.

Last evening I received a call from a guy who said he was a former employee helping out customers for free because he cares so much. This guy called to tell me he hadn't been paid in weeks and they put the company in receivership. He instructed me to call my credit card company for a refund, and in the meantime if I still want the puppy I could pay for her again. (Fool me once......)

Summary, I got suckered out of $1,400.00 and the caring ex-employee wants me to pay again because he cares so much.

I live in a different state and need to know if the credit card company will take care of the fraud issues or will I need to contact Attorney General or another agency in FL on my own?

I wrote a few times regarding not getting my dog. She's here and she's beautifull. She is the dog in the photos (markings match perfectly). She's thin but seams healthy.

Thank you John for all you did. I'm quite happy with her and the kids are madly in love with her too.

Just a note: I mentioned in previous that they wanted me to pay again. I did not, and she still showed up.

Keep up the good work ex-employee, hope your being appreciated! I thank you again from the bottom of my heart!!!

Making it Right

In regards to Ex-Employee 2, I'm pretty sure that with the terminoligy you used, you are the one who called me to re-purchase this puppy, and you still work with "Jimmy".

Now if I could just get the puppy I paid for. I am familiar with boxers and even if she does have the cold you told me she has, I can get her to a wonderful vet and nurse her back to health.

Please contact the breeder again and let them know they'll be paid, and have them ship my dog.

I've been trying to contact you and you keep telling me your busy and you'll call me right back.

The way to MAKE-THINGS-RIGHT, keep your promises. A little advice, don't make promises you know you can't keep. Life is so much easier when you face the uncomfortable truth right away, instead of having to keep track of the multiple lies you've told.

As for the "chargeback" on my credit card, this is not as easy as those who still work with James Schwinn are telling people. The only way to get the charges reversed, is for the credit card company to get their money back from his bank, or go to court for it. Being that this company is in receivership, I can only guess this will take some time.

If Mr. Schwinn is such a stand-up guy, then why did he start another company instead of saving the one he had, or atleast coming forward to his employees about their future? It's obvious he knew long before they did.

As an ex-employee I will tell you that I worked for two partners. Not one. Fine so they tell you that you can get a refund ( I can't get a refund of pay to pay my bills either), and that they will sell you a new dog. Hey it's not exactly the one whose picture you saw and fell in love with, but you to can learn to love another dog. And besides it's only money right. WRONG, check out all of the reports. There are so many other complaints with these folks. I don't expect to get paid for the 3 weeks due me but since you have extra cash to throw away on these people maybe I can send you a couple of my bills. I don't understand the new company having all those great testimonials that were borrowed from Anypets.com. C'mon folks look at the names of the people being thanked. Oh well I have said my peace. SO BUYER BEWARE!!

Trying to Make it Right

You did not get scammed. The company went into receivership. You call your credit card company and file a charge back against anypets.com. If he was trying to rip you off he would not have told you to get your money back. People who bought dogs and didn't get them are getting their money back. Some of these people want the puppy they bought and he was giving you an OPTION I am sure. I am not happy about not having a job there, but I don't want to see blame put where it is not valid. The financial partner is the one who messed up, he is the one to blame. Barry is the one not letting the comapny fill the orders and take care of customers and owes the employees pay. I understand you are upset, but please, be sure you have the whole story before pointing fingers.

What happened to you, Layla, happened to many people. I only wish this great resource made direct communication possible and am requesting of the editors of ROR that they do so in cases in which both parties agree to communicate outside of this venue. It truly could expedite communication in instances like this where time does matter.

I want to know the name of the employee who said he wanted to "help" you; clearly truly wanting to help someone NEVER involves asking for their credit card number (maybe with rare exceptions). I, myself, am an ex-employee of Any Pets, Inc./anypets.com. I didn't get paid for the last 4 weeks of my employment which was terminated on 10/15 prior to the start of my work day. The history is attached to other posts but I'll give it to you along with some real help as far as advice. The company, as it was told to me by the former night manager, Stuart, announced on 10/18 at 6pm through Bob, the Operations Manager, that the company was closed and that payroll, due the following day, was not going to be met. I also subsequently learned upon calling my bank that the payroll check which I'd deposited on 10/6, 2 weeks prior to this past weekend, had bounced so.....four weeks of work and no income.

The plot thickens. Another post-er re: this Any Pets debacle, Donna from Montclair, NJ, alerted everyone to the fact that anypets.com already is operating again, but under the name dogsales.com. Some former salespeople, like Lowell Glick (I have proof) and I suspect others, are still working for the company, now dogsales.com, and so are party to the fraud which has been perpetrated against other real ex-employees and a host of customers, potentially numbering in the thousands.

FYI, the owner of the company is James W. Schwinn who everyone called "Jimmy"; real folksy, then think Jimmy the Greek. The matter is being investigated by various law enforcement agencies. I can tell you for a fact that the office of Florida's Attorney General, Bill McCollum, is building a file on anypets and would be most interested in hearing your story; go to myfloridalegal.com and click on contact Bill McCollum or phone. You also should contact the AG in your state, too, just for advice as to whether filing a complaint there also might be effective. Also contact Hollywood Police Department; ask for a Sgt. Marino in the Dectective division during regular business hours; he'll probably tell you your case has to be handled as a civil matter but, as I argued with him, it strikes me that anypets purposely set out to defraud people, employees and customers alike.

I also filed a comlaint with www.ic3.gov, the site for reporting internet crime which is connected to the FBI. I've left a message for the Investigative Reports team at NBC 6 in Miami and for a consumer reporter at the Sun-Sentinel, the main daily in Broward County.

Whatever you do, make noise about this and keep up the heat. Fights like this aren't won in a few days or even a few weeks but if you believe in justice, and not just for yourself but for anyone who has been wronged, this is a good fight to be in. The owner of anypets or dogsales.com is acting completely without scruples, completely indifferent to the financial hardship he's caused some ex-employees and the emotional hardship, at least, which he's caused puppy buyers. He needs to go to jail.

As for former employees who again are working for Jimmy Schwinn, I believe they were part of the ruse from the start and, as such, are beneath contempt; one of them whose name I'll omit - it's referenced in another post, anyway! - has fraud in his past. They all are partaking in this fraud, as well, and are people who couldn't begin to conceive the best tradition which workers everywhere always hope to be able to rely on: Solidarity. What goes around will come around to them, too. Good luck and success for all of us!

Again, Rip Off editors, I want to be able to communicate directly with these folks. Can you help? My email info may be shared with anyone wronged in this matter.
