AOL, America On Line, AOLSalker.com Violation Of the Electronic Privacy Act of 1996, Computer Fraud And Abuse Act 1996 Dulles Virginia
In March of 2006 through May of 2006 AOL caused "search" data which was searched by AOL subscribers to be released to a third party who in turn published that information on the World Wide Web without regard to the safety security and privacy of AOL members causing absolutely imeasureable exposure to sensitive information and identifiable markers in personal financial and public information retrieveable at aolstalker.com.
This release of data is a breach of the confidentialty
between the AOL subscribers and AOL and is in direct contravention of the act quoted above.
When someone access' this site (aolstaker.com)and enters keyword identifying markers such a first and last names, credit card info, finacial, personal queries etc, every search through the period appears completely and unedited.
Consider cetain situations wherein lives may be at risk such as law enforcement, government employees in sensitive positions and other at risk subscribers.
It is a breach of the fiducisry responsibility AOL has with its subscribers and reflects poorly on the company and employess of AOL.
It is particulary unwholesome to realize that AOL has never advised the public at large especially those thus affected by the release of the data to date!

Thank you for taking your time to read and post your thoughts. The issue here is not "oh well things happen" the issue here is that there is a fiduciary responsibility between the Aol subscribers and AOL that personal infromation is exactly that... personal.
The damage done is world wide. The data cannot be recalled. AOL when you call them at first deny having knowkedge, call MR Stewart at the above contact number. When I called him he denied knowing about Stalker.com where the dat is not recalled then admitted he knew of the matter?
Contact aollivehelp.com, in that instance a foriegn national responds that they know nothing of the matter and refer you back to report@aol, legal@aol etc etc.
Report@aol my goodness report to the very entity that did this?
How about this question, right here at this site?
How many of the 1100 reportees here or see this today have ever been sent a message by AOL informing them that this has occured? Dont you think We The People have a right to be informed of this instead of discovering it myself in a routine search of my name because of the work that I am engaged in that requires me me to ensure the integrity of my confidentiality and that of my familybecause of the sensitive nature of my job?
Go to the net...enter... aol data leak... and see where this has gone? See the opinions from harvard law school to the blue collar worker?
The resignation of Maureen Govern? T
ry running her name? You will not find any leaked data on her whatsoever!!!
For those of you who see this as a benign incident? Wake up and get a grip on your coffee cup!!!!
Do you recall the loss of 26.5 million names on a federal data base of America's veterans during war time? There is a nation wide laizee faire attitude towards the integrity of the most sensitive data of Americans and its AOL this time who just hand out what ever they d**n well please from the Ivory tower wwithout regard?
Think too? Ihave AOL 9.0 Security edition, Spy ware, Adware, Virus program, Computer Scan, all aol services to insure that my computer is secure as it can be for a price to AOL?
And who just posted all my searches? AOL!!!!
No this is not a minor event.
Mz Govern has violated the Electronic Communcations Act of 1996and so have her cohorts.
Intentional or not? Ignorance of the law?
The chief tech officer?
Get real we are held to the laws as they apply to you and me corporate America is bound by the same, Corporate accountabiltiy is demanded by me!
If you are not interested in what has happened? Thats your choice, me thousnads upon thousands of others?
We are no so casual as you are about it.

The chief tech officer responsible for this leak had resigned as has many others. It was an accident, and these things happen. However, by pointing people to this site as well as detailing how to use it, aren't you making this information readily available to a whole new spectrum of people who may not be aware of this site?
And to the moderators, how come you allowed the posting of such a malicious web address when other innocuous websites or email addresses are redacted?
BTW, it appears as though this site is down.
