Complaint Review: AOL

To make a long story short, I too was charged 23.90 to my credit card after cancelling AOL in September 2003. I spoke to numerous rude people at AOL at the 888.265.8008 number including Allison, Susan, Juan, Provish, Ray and finally the worst of all Eric Hunter. He was the worst because he promised to reimburse the 10/15/03 charge of 23.90 and then AFTER I wrote a letter of recommendation he did not remove the charge or respond to any emails ( he did write asking how soon I could get the letter together so I know it worked).

The point of my posting is not to rehash the same story over again but to offer some suggestions and MOST importantly to get Phone Numbers and Names and Addresses out here!!! -

1) Put your complaint or correspondence in writing. Unfortunately I have not had much success finding addresses but I will list the phone numbers and addresses that I have

2) Send your letters by certified mail that way you will have proof. I checked with the post office and it's about $3 to do and having only a PO Box isn't optimal but at least it's something.

3) Keep track of all phone calls with time and person spoken to, no matter how rude.

4) Utilize sites like this and others like complaints.com - they really do help others. Unfortunately it's usually too late.

5) Stop using AOL - !!!! Some of these letters are ridiculous after all the over charges and everything some are still using them - Get NetZero or MSN or Anything but stop using AOL!!!!!

Please post any additional numbers or addresses that you have this way we can all save time.
