Aol.com Aol Billing, Operations & Services I received a computer gift w/1 yr. free service. Aft. 3 mos. AOL took charges from my bank acct; they will not respond or refund unauthorized withdrawal. Jacksonville Florida
THE FOLLOWING IS THE ACTUAL LETTER I BOTH SENT & FAXED TO AOL.
Subject : AOL Letter/Dispute
To: AOL Billing Operations & Services
P.O. Box 17200
Jacksonville, Florida 32245
05/13/04
To Whom It May Concern:
On Jan. 21, 2003, my friend purchased my computer from Gateway, and presented it to me as a gift. The package included various software & services, along with a one-year free subscription to AOL internet services. He informed the Gateway salesman that this was a present for me.
The account was activated by AOL account representative Tabitha at 7:43pm on 2/28/03, under my name, with the main screen name __________. I accessed AOL mostly with _________________ as my screenname. Tabitha also asked for my credit card number, saying that it would not be used for billing but needed to be on file.
On 5/18/03 I was unable to access my account, called AOL, and received a different account screen name which I changed to __________________.
I was unaware that a totally seperate 2nd account was opened until today, 5/13/04, upon speaking with AOL representative Sajad. So, evidently, instead of a new name and password, your representative opened a new account and didn't cancel the old one.
I e-mailed AOL many months ago, requesting cancellation of my AOL internet service, after discovering that I was not receiving my contracted free year, and was in fact being billed, then double billed for a service I didn't want and hardly used. (These so-called charges were being extracted from my bank card/checking account without approval!) In my e-mail, I also included a copy of the original sales receipt, which listed my 1 year of free AOL internet access, the store and salesman's name, etc.
After no response from AOL and more unauthorized charges/payments being extracted.... I had no choice, but to cancel my bank card.
Annoyed at your delinquent account charges/bill received through the U.S. mail today.... I once again called your billing department....Upon speaking with your representative, Sajad, I relayed this situation and the fact that I do not want AOL services, just a refund of moneys owed me for the months of unauthorized billing and double billing.
I know you will bring swift resolution to this matter. Thank you.
Sincerely, and totally frustrated,
TO THIS DATE, July 28,2004, I have still received no response.
